- Case Materials: Documents, audio files, video files, and other materials you upload to the Service for analysis

- Payment Information: Billing information processed through our payment provider (we do not store full payment card numbers)
- Communications: Messages you send to our support team
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and improve the Service
- Process and analyze documents you upload using AI
- Send you verification codes, password reset links, and account notifications
- Respond to your support requests
- Process subscription payments

3. Case Materials and Attorney-Client Privilege
We understand that case materials uploaded to DefenseIQ may contain privileged attorney-client communications and confidential client information. We treat all uploaded case materials with the highest level of confidentiality:
- Your case materials are never used to train AI models
- Your case materials are never shared with third parties except as necessary to provide the Service (e.g., sending audio to OpenAI Whisper for transcription)
- Your case materials are processed solely for the purpose of generating analysis for your use
- Access to your case materials is restricted to you and your authorized firm members
You are solely responsible for ensuring your use of the Service complies with your professional obligations regarding client confidentiality and privilege.
4. Third-Party Services
DefenseIQ uses the following third-party services to provide the Service:
- Anthropic Claude: AI analysis of case documents
- OpenAI Whisper: Audio and video transcription
- CourtListener: Case law research and citation retrieval
- Amazon Web Services: Secure cloud hosting and storage
- Google SMTP: Delivery of verification codes and notifications
Each of these services has its own privacy policy governing their use of data. Audio and video files submitted for transcription are processed by OpenAI and subject to their data handling policies.
5. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information:
- All data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections
- Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text
- Two-factor authentication is required for all account access
- Case materials are stored on secure AWS infrastructure
- Access to production systems is strictly controlled
No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security but are committed to protecting your data using best practices.
6. Data Retention
We retain your account information and case materials for as long as your account is active. If you cancel your account, we will delete your case materials within 30 days of account termination. Some information may be retained longer as required by law.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your account and associated data
- Export your case materials before account termination
